Beanos Cabin, A Unique Dining Experience

December 29, 2011 Leave a comment

Beaver Creek has an array of dinning options ranging from 5 stars to more casual family -friendly options.  Beanos Cabin is one restaurant that provides a unique dining experience that is enjoyed by all ages.  The dining experience commences with a modern-day, open air sleigh ride.  The sleigh, pulled by a snow cat makes for a fun ride up for the kids.  Since you are out in the open be sure to dress warm, hats and gloves are recommended.  They do provide you with a fleece lined poncho that helps to keep you warm.Beaver Creek, Beanos Cabin Dining

On the ride up the sleigh master enlightened us with interesting history about the area. The beautiful snow-covered cabin welcomes guests with a roaring fireplace and live music.  Beano’s Cabin is known for its extraordinary food coupled with a robust wine list.  The 5 course meal makes for a culinary adventure.  Last night we started with a cup of truffle potato leek soup.  Everyone grabbed the bread to wipe the bowl clean!  The second course was the Beanos “house” salad.  This included organic mixed greens, locally made goat cheese, and candied walnuts.  The next course was a tough one as there were about 6 incredible choices.  I went with the beef tenderloin carpaccio and enjoyed a bite of the pheasant crepe, both were delectable.  For the main course there was also a great variety of choices.   The favorites at our table included the ginger bread crusted lamb and the miso black cod.  Skip the elk chop, it was a little chewy.  Last but not least the dessert, my personal favorite part of any meal.  I had the chocolate molten cake which was divine.  They also had an assortment of homemade sorbet and ice creams that were a great way to cap off the meal.

I would highly recommend Beanos for it’s one of a kind experience whether with family or a romantic dinner, you won’t be disappointed.  East West Resorts has an exceptional concierge staff that can help make dinner reservations. Contact our concierge.  Also there are a variety of other dinning options  Click here for more information on Beaver Creek dining options.

COLORADO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA & CHORUS TO PERFORM MOZARTS SWAN SONG REQUIEM AT THE VILAR CENTER IN BEAVER CREEK ON JANUARY 31

January 29, 2011 (Beaver Creek, CO) – Conductor Bernard Labadie and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) make a triumphant return to the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) on Monday, January 31 at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s all-Mozart program includes three masterpieces by the renowned composer: Overture to The Magic Flute; Oboe Concerto with Principal Oboe Peter Cooper; and Requiem featuring the CSO Chorus.

As the Rocky Mountain regions only full-time professional orchestra, the CSO embraces a tradition of musical excellence by presenting a wide variety of symphonic performances and music education programs for both the young and the young at heart. The CSO has gained recognition as one of the finest performing orchestras in the country.

100 vocalists from the Colorado Symphony Chorus will join the orchestra on the Vilar Center stage, in the second half of the program, to perform Mozart’s Requiem. Founded in 1984 by Duain Wolfe, the Colorado Symphony Chorus has grown into a nationally respected ensemble and performs with the CSO for more than 25 performances this year. Monday’s performance of Requiem, will mark the first time in VPAC history that an orchestra and chorus have appeared together on its stage.

Mozart’s Requiem is often described as the most heart-wrenching piece of music in the world. The piece begins with a haunting melody, followed by a dramatic crescendo of minor chords with the chorus singing in Latin.

Mozart began creating the Requiem in July  of 1791 but did not finish it before his death in December.  Mozart became obsessed with the Requiem, referring to it as his swan-song, convinced that he was writing the music for his own funeral.  In his words, “I am on the point of death; I have finished before I could enjoy my talent…. I thus must finish my funeral song, which I must not leave incomplete”. There have been many stories and myths surrounding the commissioning of this work.

Tickets for Colorado Symphony Orchestra & Chorus are $75/90, based on seating and are available online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 888.920.ARTS(2787) or in person at the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek.

MUSIC SUPERSTAR WYNONNA ADDED TO THE VILAR CENTER WINTER LINE-UP; TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY

December 8, 2010 (BEAVER CREEK, Colorado) —On a first name basis with the world for 25 years, award-winning country music superstar Wynonna will make her first-ever appearance at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in Beaver Creek on Thursday, February 17 at 7:30pm.

“It’s beyond exciting to present an iconic act like Wynonna in our intimate, 530-seat venue,” said VPAC Executive Director Kris Sabel. “This is a momentous live music occasion for the entire Vail Valley.”

Wynonna’s musical breakthrough came in the early-1980s with the mother/daughter team The Judds, featuring Wynonna and her mother Naomi, (whose humble Kentucky family life – Naomi was a working/single mom – reflected the everyday struggles of many Americans) found the pair emerging as one of the most popular singing duos of all time.  Their kitchen table harmonies and home-spun rapport reignited the country music scene, with the pair going on to sell more than 20 million albums, winning five Grammys and over 60 industry awards, and achieving gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications from the RIAA.

Wynonna will appear solo in Beaver Creek, performing songs from her seventh studio album, Sing: Chapter 1. Her first studio album in six years, Sing pays homage to 11 country, rock, blues and soul-baring standards originated by legendary artists that have formed the unique soundtrack to her own life.

The album not only sheds new light on the incomparable Judd legend, but provides country fans and rock aficionados a rare opportunity to envision the way a teenage Wynonna, raised by a single mom and growing up in rural Kentucky, first experienced the songs in her own musical imagination.

“I’m sort of lifting the veil on all these songs for the first time,” Wynonna says.  “Listening to them these past few months has made me remember all these incredible snapshots of my life with these songs as the soundtrack.  These are the songs I listened to when no one was watching.  The songs I held dear to my heart all the way through my career.”

Wynonna’s passion for rock and gutsy R&B has long been a hallmark of her charismatic live shows.  She’s been a welcome guest of rock icons like U2 and the Rolling Stones, and Sing’s beckoning version of “I Hear You Knocking,” (originally recorded by Smiley Lewis and made popular by Dave Edmunds), reminded her of her early love for bands like the Stones and Foreigner.

It’s been an incredible ride that has seen Wynonna bridge the chasm between country music’s awesome heritage and a rousing quest for musical innovation.  Rolling Stone Magazine referred to her early on as ‘the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline,’ but Wynonna has always followed her own hi-octane musical passions, proving that a female country singer can attract fans from all across the musical landscape.

Along the way, Wynonna has sold more than 10 million albums, released 6 platinum-plus/gold-plus albums, scored 16 Top Ten hits, and a Top Female Vocalist Of  The Year award from the Academy of Country Music. She’s also revered as one of music’s seminal live icons, delivering many acclaimed sold-out tours; performing one day backed by her 7-piece band and the next along with a full symphony orchestra.

“I am grateful,” says Wynonna.  “I’m blessed with the greatest fans in the world.  At the end of the day music is here to create a memory for people.  I always want my music to make people feel.  To make them celebrate.  To move them in a way they may have otherwise been too busy to notice.”

Tickets for Wynonna are $98/123/148 based on seating and will be available online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 888.920.ARTS(2787) or in person at the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek, beginning December 9 at 11am. Tickets are available online 24 hours a day.
